Having spent the last few days hard at work, slaving away over a boiling pan of emails, I’m grateful to Nicole over at Rormix who each week compiles a selection of five of the finest videos featured on their site for me to sift through and share with you. This week’s selection sees no drop in quality so, rather than you having to read my nonsense, get your clicking fingers out and check out these corkers;
WIN WIN – Been So Long
A group that presents itself first as lifelong friends, second as collaborators, and third as a band, WIN WIN has built its reputation on its far-ranging work as a production collective. ‘Been So Long’ is from the band’s highly anticipated album Primaries, out June 30 on Arts & Crafts. The video, which pits colourful 3D technology against natural and human elements, premiered on VICE, who described it as “a bizarre computer-generated psychedelic dance wormhole”.

The Van Allen Belt – Lovely In Akron
The concept for The Van Allen Belt began in 2006 when songwriter/producer / instrumentalist Benjamin Ferris had inclinations to emulate and re-contextualize the sounds of 1960’s pop. The group have toured nationally with this configuration in the US playing over 50 shows per year since 2012 and show no signs of slowing down.

Vök – If I Was
Vök was formed in January 2013 by singer Margrét Rán and saxophonist Andri Már. Described as dream-pop/indie-electro band their sound consists of dreamy electronics with melodic vocals, distant saxophones and clean reverberated guitars. Vök is easily placed in the realm of indie-electro, thus resulting in everyone from The Knife and The xx to Poliça and Phantogram, but their music is distinctly their own.
